Parents,

Youth Tackle Registration begins May 18th. After a year as an independent, we have been approved to join, as a probationary member, the Mid State Football Conference. This league consists of teams from Mt. Vernon, Effingham, Mattoon, Charleston, Taylorville, and Mt. Zion. This is a well-established league that has been around for 20+ years. With this move, we will have 3 home dates guaranteed and the ability to also add 1-2 additional games with other towns each year. This will provide our league with much needed stability. This league also has teams in each grade of 5,6,7,8 which is the current format of our Marion league. Our schedule has already been made and will be posted soon.

There are some important changes that will be made with joining the new league. The Mid State Football Conference does not play any weight limits. Kids will be able to play any position the coach sees fit which will provide more flexibility.

Also, birth certificates are required to accompany the roster to each site. Parents will be required to provide a certified copy of birth certificates for their child prior to equipment pickup. This birth certificate must either be embossed or stamped as a “true and certified copy of the exact document”. There will be no exceptions for this requirement. Please start trying to obtain this document now if your child intends to play. Once received, this will be good throughout your child’s playing career in the youth tackle program.

The first official day of practice will begin Monday July 23. There will be a voluntary mini-camp that will take place July 16, 17, and 19.

Please make sure that you join the Marion Youth Football page on Facebook for updates in addition to the emails you receive from marionyouthsports.org.

We look forward to a great season!

Coach Ashley Gott
