POSITION TITLE :              Basketball Instructor/Coach       

Pay Classification:    Part-time Non-Exempt (Non IMRF- under 1000 hours annually)

SUPERVISOR:                     Sports & Fitness Coordinator

NATURE OF WORK:

The Basketball Instructor is responsible for providing basketball lessons on a private/individual basis, and small group basis. The Basketball Instructor/Coach should provide a welcoming learning environment consistent with The HUB mission, professional service to members and program participants, build positive relationships with members and program participants, and ensure all follow all policies and guidelines.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Serve as a positive role model to students and players.
  2. Model and encourage positive sports behavior, work ethic, and character.
  3. Effectively supervise all participants participating in lessons, programs, and camps.
  4. Instruct and coach sport fundamentals, skills, rules, strategies, drills, and tactics appropriate to the development stage of the student.
  5. Provide opportunity for sport conditioning appropriate to the development stage and objectives of the student.
  6. Maintain equipment and inform supervisors of equipment issues and needs to ensure safety and functional inventory.
  7. Gather and check out any supplies and equipment needed for planned activities.
  8. Clean up, collect, and return all supplies and equipment used for activities to the proper place.
  9. Maintain regular and effective communication with other staff and supervisors.
  10. Attend and complete all scheduled staff meetings and training.
  11. Maintain proper reports and attendance records.
  12. Communicate lessons and gym reservation needs with supervisor.
  13. Administer first aid and emergency procedures as needed.
  14. Properly submit behavioral and incident reports.
  15. All other miscellaneous duties as assigned by Supervisor.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Must be minimum 18 years of age, with ability to effectively communicate with all ages about procedures and policies. CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications are required within the first 30 days of employment.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:  As scheduled by Supervisor.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, and kneel and must occasionally lift and/or move 20-50 pounds.
