One of my favorite things about The HUB is summer time! The energy is high and there are a lot of activities going on. Summer Camp and Youth Sports are returning this month and there are several things to look forward to!

HUB Summer Camp

New Activities

When camp first starts you have the wild kids, the timid kids, the sporty kids, the crafty kids and so on. As camp goes by, it is fun to see the change in hobbies of the campers. What they identified themselves with before camp develops into so much more over the summer. They start to enjoy new sports and activities that help them interact with kids they didn’t know before camp.

Creativity

Summer camp allow kids to be creative more freely. There isn’t a test at the end of the day or a project to be graded on. They can use their creativity to help them develop fun skills and learn. As a previous camp counselor, one of my favorite things to do was to teach a camper something new and see how they reacted. Being creative is all about trying something new and enjoying the process, it doesn’t matter if you are good at it or not!

Youth Sports

Marion Youth Tackle Football

Every July we start our Marion Youth Tackle Football League. Athletes between 5th– 8th  grade join our football league for the end of summer. We focus on youth development along with skill development with our players.

Just like summer camp, our athletes get to interact with other kids and make new friends. What makes a summer sports league different is the emphasis on teamwork and sportsmanship. Watching the athletes develop a relationship with their coach, teammates and sport is very fulfilling! There is structure in every sport and rules to follow. These guidelines allow us to see the variety of personalities between the athletes on and off the field.
